Goodbye Kyoto, it was already very early today... Breakfast at 6 as our Shinkansen to Nagoya departs at 8:13... not that it would have been bad if we missed it, because unlike Germany, the bullet trains run every 10 minutes at the most... and they're all fully booked... incredible.
And even today, all connections, trains and buses are perfectly timed.
So what’s on the agenda today... Hiking day in the Alps from Nakatsugawa to Tusumago.
Some might think... where on earth is that... It's the area between Nagoya and Nagano (Winter Olympics 1998)
Even though it was way too hot again at 33 degrees, we really missed the calm nature after the bustling city.
Important: every 500 meters there is a bell that you should ring to scare off any bears and... spray well against mosquitoes... They can find the spot where they can strike otherwise.
From old mountain villages to a simple Japanese lunch at a hut keeper (which was absolutely delicious)
Or from a simple farmer who offers tea to hikers in his barn by an open fire.
In short, we enjoyed the day, but by the late afternoon we were quite groggy and looked forward to our first ryokan in Matsumoto, for which we had to take the bus and train again.
In the ryokan, guests stay in rooms with tatami mats and sleep on laid-out futon beds, wearing a yukata.
I looked like a little shogun..
After dinner, we headed to the traditional onsen to relax our muscles... and with our last strength, we headed to our room before our eyes finally closed..
Good night Germany... see you tomorrow
