Let's go see Shinagawa!

Published: 31.10.2026

Attraction
Shinagawa Jinja
Shinagawa, Tokyo, Japan
Stroll
Omori → Shinagawa Jinja
30m

The nights are still short!

Never hesitate to get a good sleep; it will do you well.

(1) Shinagawa Jinja / 品川じんじゃ

As I gradually recovered, I decided to visit Shinagawa Jinja in Kitashinagawa (which is situated further north). Coming from Omori, it was a quick 30-minute trip on foot and via the Keikyû Main Line.
Main entrance, walk leftwards! (center is for the kami as always)
The shrine is mainly known for fulfilling wishes, hosting weddings, and welcoming pilgrims who are unable to climb Mt. Fuji. Personally, I prefer to admire the mountain from a distance! While I love hiking and exploring, I don't feel the need to climb every single mountain out there.

Hikigaerusama! What a beautiful shrine it was. Despite the rain, I was fortunate enough to spend about 40 minutes there to pray and get a lucky charm for my future hiking trips.

(2) Shinagawa area (east) and the canal city

It was the perfect place to stroll around and search for a cozy little café. The eastern part of Shinagawa also boasts numerous art galleries and fantastic photo spots.

Instead of crowded tourist traps, you will find beautiful illuminations and plenty of peaceful, hidden gems.

(3) When autumn comes ..

You want to eat Oden and try something new!

For me, it was my first Oden (I don't know why I missed it in my Japan trips before *lol*), but it was quite tasty! :)

The restaurant was not very busy this time, so I appreciated the silence and the beautiful atmosphere.

Different food, different way of eating! Sorry for missing the dip :')

Shinagawa is awesome!

If you want a bright time in Tokyo and skip all the crowds from Shibuya, Harajuku, and Shinjuku, you should explore the lesser-known area of the southwest in Tokyo.

You will be surprised at how lucky you could be!
