Excited for our first breakfast, we woke up to cloudy but acceptable weather.
Having the temperature records at home in
Austria now at -28°C, we were quite satisfied with the +30 °C here on the island.
Fortunately, the breakfast here was wonderful too. Similar to the previous week, we were served toast with jam, porridge, eggs, and of course, fresh fruits.
We decided to start the day with a trip, including a guided tour in the Vallée de Mai National Park, right in the middle of the island.
The main attraction was, of course, the 'Coco de Mer,' translated as coconut from the sea, which is actually not a nut and does not come from the sea but is the largest seed in the world. Weighing 10-15 kg, it is quite a hefty chunk and, with its unique shape, can only be found in the Seychelles. While it is nimble like a bird, we did manage to spot it: the 'Black Parrot.' It is found only on Praslin Island and lives and breeds in the trunks of the Coco de Mer palm.
Our beloved palm spider was of course also a resident of the park, along with frogs, chameleons, geckos, lizards, various palms, and trees with edible fruits and special spice leaves (Allspices), and much more.
Meanwhile, the sun was starting to peek through the often dense jungle, allowing for a sunbath at the hotel beach after a coastal exploration tour.
We enjoyed tuna steak and caramelized pineapple for dinner again at our hotel.
To catch the sunrise tomorrow, we set the alarm for 6 AM and went to bed soon after.
