Torrential Rain, Stones & Stingrays

Today another trip was planned, one we had been looking forward to for a long time. And as it should happen - the day started again with heavy torrential rain, just like a week ago on our scheduled trip day.🌧️ This time, however, nothing had to be canceled because the day turned out to be quite changeable and fortunately also had some nice weather for us.💪🏻 After our quick smoothie bowl breakfast in bed, we rented bicycles and headed to the L' Union Estate National Park, where our tour took place. First, a local showed us how to properly open coconuts by hand.🥥 Everyone then got their own coconut to eat.😍 After that, we climbed into the glass kayaks, where we were pulled along by a boat on the way there, as the current was too strong for paddling. On the way, we could observe the underwater world - our highlight was a large ray.😍 But not only underwater was there much to discover, the view from the kayak of the giant rocks of the world-famous beach Anse Source d' Argent (the most photographed in the world) was beautiful.☺️ At a small beach section, we made a stop, took a little hike to the filming locations of the movie 'Robinson Crusoe', and were allowed to explore the surroundings a bit. We became acquainted with a little crab.🦀 On the way back, we were allowed to paddle ourselves, which wasn’t so easy.🫣 Especially the high waves, which splashed a lot of water into the kayak, made the ride very adventurous. Additionally, Janike's seasickness appeared with the waves despite taking motion sickness tablets.🤢 Back at the kayak rental, we received a fresh fruit plate before we set off on foot to the famous beach we had seen from the water. Shortly after we had spread out our towels and made ourselves comfortable, it started pouring like out of nowhere.🌧️ While Janike was trying to save all the stuff under the umbrella (in the end, everything was still wet), Yannick enjoyed the unexpected shower.🚿 Since no sun was expected anymore, we returned to the hotel a bit earlier than planned.🚲 We ended the day at a beach bar with pizza & live music.🍕🎸
