This morning at 6:30 we started our booked safari tour in the Minnerya National Park, known for its many elephants. But not only there, we also see elephants occasionally here in the village. I was warned not to walk alone to the rock 🛘 early in the morning. We traveled in a proper safari jeep, ideal for wildlife observation. After a short time, we spotted the first two specimens. For me, being close to the animals was special. I had never been this close to an elephant before, especially not to an entire family, which we would later be lucky enough to see. The first mother-child sighting was announced with a loud trumpet and reacted by fleeing. The next family, with a very small baby, was quite relaxed; they didn't let us disturb them. It was a beautiful moment to experience the animals up close.

After the safari tour, we treated ourselves to some downtime before climbing the Pidurangala Rock in the evening. It is located opposite the famous Lions Rock, which charges an outrageous entrance fee. First, you visit a small Buddhist temple before ascending via steps and rocks. Once at the top, we enjoyed the view of the neighboring rock and the surrounding landscape. The sunset wasn't particularly spectacular, but the overall experience was definitely very nice.

After that, we went together for a bite to eat and just like that, the second day came to an end. The heat makes me quite tired quickly, and by around 10:00 PM, I fall into bed completely exhausted after a cold shower.
