Lucky Children 🍀
Early morning wakes us up, and we head out into the thick fog towards Walvis Bay (Whale Bay) for our Combi Tour today 🛥🚗 First, we go out to sea with our (almost) private...

We are leaving the coastal town of Swakopmund, but not without having visited the Jetty (pier) and heading further north, into the Erongo Mountains.
Our destination today is Spitzkoppe (1,728m), Namibia's Matterhorn.
On the way there, the roads are once again very 'bumpy' and we are getting shaken up quite a bit 🥴
Here, the poverty of the country is unfortunately very visible. Children run up to the car in groups to sell handmade items or to beg for water. Hopefully, our donations will show them how well they can live 🙏
Sadly, just before we reach our destination, we encounter our second flat tire. This time, a metal part is the culprit 👿 So, it's time to change the tire again before we can continue.
Finally arriving, we hike/climb to the Rock Pool and Rock Arch. The temperatures are now above 30° and we are really starting to sweat 🥵
Our lodge for today is located near the small town of Usakos and is our stopover before heading up to Damaraland. In the midst of the mountains, there's a small oasis with three very sweet dogs. Lenya finally makes it into the pool, but it is veeeeery cold. As a reward, there's a soothing massage. Somehow, we've landed here in paradise; the lodge feels like it belongs entirely to us 🌟
Tomorrow, the first stop will be a tire service in Usakos, which was already closed today.
So it's 6 AM again ⏰️ ring the bell
