Lefki, Agia Galini and Afrathias Beach

Unfortunately, I have not had the leisure to write everything down in detail here. In the meantime, we have found some wonderful camping spots, met lovely and friendly people, and faced some light 'hostility' along the lines of 'You are doing YouTube and not writing anything about the place... it belongs to us.' OK, you are right, but those who know us know... we do not write down exact coordinates and only mention roughly where we are because we believe that we can only indicate official camper spots. Park4night has about 95% spots which are not really official but only tolerated. However, it is nice to meet such different people; sometimes, paths separate in not optimal ways... the chemistry simply does not match...

Here’s a bit in short:

Lefki: we spent several days there in storms and rain. Archaeological sites and olive trees adorned with wonderful meadow flowers surrounded us... we really enjoyed and loved this place. The drive was via a mountain pass that stirred a feeling of 'Wild Mouse' in my stomach... very spooky but beautiful

Butterfly Gorge: another overnight stay at the Butterfly Gorge with a hike to the ladder where, unfortunately, I had to veto due to my fear of heights. The hike is really wonderful and worth it... without a backpack, it was also easy to navigate through the tight spots... an experience

Malia: ended up back in Malia at the beach for an overnight stay. The spot was as usual on a small cliff, allowing us to comfortably spend the night. Unfortunately, you never know what nature has planned with earthquakes and volcanic activity... so caution is better than regret

Agia Galini: this time we actually chose a campsite for 2 nights. 22 Euros including electricity for the night... it was okay, and the showers were hot. We also managed to wash and dry part of our laundry by hand... with the help of some clothespins borrowed from our friendly Finnish neighbors in the camper. The walk to the harbor inspired me to buy my own clothespins at a supermarket. The harbor is beautiful with pictures at the quay wall, and the view towards the town was simply stunning.

Afrathias Beach: the beach section is well visited by campers. Even though we don’t particularly enjoy that, we have joined in and are enjoying the view of the sea. Tomorrow it is supposed to rain, and with such a view, we can 'endure' it well. The tavern – less than 300 meters away – opens on the weekend, and we will really take the opportunity to eat there this time. Dagmar and Robert are also here, so maybe we can eat together there.
