We have settled very comfortably along the beach path, the sun is shining, our batteries are getting fully charged every day. Sometimes the time span is longer, sometimes shorter, but with our 2 Sunfolders, it is no longer a problem, and we are very grateful for that. Today, on February 20, 2025, a cold and strong north wind is blowing, hitting the car and shaking us up... but that brings a little joy too. Our Sunfolder from Allpowers is tied securely to the rear bike rack, weighted down with stones, and everything is stretched and secured, so even in a storm, we can charge... wonderful... but first things first.
We walk a lot along the beach, around the area, and keep discovering something new... so much beautiful nature. We enjoy every second, breathe in the fresh sea air, and feel happy when we encounter a flock of sheep, especially when the mother is nursing twins... so sweet.
The tavern only opens on weekends in the off-season, and we arrange to meet a couple on Saturdays at 6:00 PM. The first dilemma started with the time... it’s half an hour too early since the dogs need to go out first... but this time we decided to stick to it, as we usually eat relatively early (5:00-6:00 PM) to get a good night’s sleep.
Saturday, 6:00 PM, we enjoy the super wonderful sunset, and the first thing we hear is that a sunset is always the same and that they have seen a thousand of them... okay... the mood was already down and the expressions said it all. I really wonder why one wouldn’t just stay home. We go to the tavern, and the man sits at the table while the woman sits opposite... uh... I really would have preferred to sit next to my husband... but okay, we managed that... inevitably. Unfortunately, the tavern owner also smoked in the premises... and anyone who knows Freddy and me knows that’s a big no-no... but alright... we’ll swallow that pill too. The expressions and the mood don’t really allow for a relaxed conversation, and everything is rather “demanding”... such a shame. Freddy ordered cutlet and I ordered chicken, and we shared tzatziki with bread. The tzatziki was really delicious... but the rest? The cutlet and chicken were grilled on Friday and just warmed up, charred, hard, and tasted... “charred flavors.” We paid very quickly as the chairs weren’t very comfortable either and quickly said our goodbyes. It was decided... difficult...
On Sunday, it started with slight nausea until Monday... and then it hit hard... stomach flu, and somehow I felt quite weak. On Tuesday, I could only sleep all day and unfortunately couldn’t enjoy the sun... but I wouldn’t have felt very good anyway... but now on Thursday, I’m feeling better again, the coffee cravings and appetite are back, and that’s a good sign. We’ll just stay here at this wonderful spot until Monday and simply enjoy it... Matala can wait a few more days for us...
