Today we visited Zagreb. This was mostly to answer an argument. Jane visited it in the mid-seventies with the Italian family she was au pairing for when she worked in Italy and I...

Today was travel day (again). We crossed from Slovenia to Croatia. Our new site is near Novigrad on the isthmian coast. After a few cloudy and wet days, today was warm to start and full sun to finish. The next few days are getting hotter. We setup camp and then went down the dog beach for a swim and chill. Winnie was in the water a lot, fetching her ball. It was a peaceful day except for the incessant drum beat from a club across the bay. The kick drum permeates every part of the site. Somewhat like those who live near railway lines, after a while you zone it out, but every so often it penetrates your conscious thought. Not a show stopper but one of the things we will probably remember of the site.
After the beach we had a couple of drinks at the bar; I had 2 beers, and Jane had an Aperol Spritz then a Virgin Pina Collada, which was delicious. I reckon we can make that at home.
There are quite a lot of visit-worthy places in our vicinity, Novigrad being one, which is within walking distance. The others a drive a way. We are at the stage of our travels when we are enjoying trips out for the day, however it is hot for the next week here and that limits what we do, mostly because of the dogs. Winnie is pretty indestructible, but Betsy is an old lady now and if we do go, we will be taking the dog carrier with us. And even with that, we’d probably plan to go early to beat the heat.
