It’s all about Texas baby

We were not that happy with our site near Annecy. We didn’t read the small print, and were a drive from the water. The lake did have areas for dogs, but not many, and the site was fine really, but it just didn’t feel right. 

So we packed up and left to travel to a new location, a small lake. Turns out that it’s a wildlife lake so dogs are not allowed in it, but there is a stream flowing along the edge of the site where all four of us, Betsy included, had a wade and a swim (which one depended on how long our legs were). I also got my VPN working so we could watch the football on the iPad, but we also found the (not open) bar area had a TV so we watched the first half of the England game there, then since it was after the dogs bedtime, we watched the second half in bed on the iPad. It was a great game and a good victory. 

Jane’s eldest son was at the England/Croatia game as part of a stag week in Texas. One of the days he’s doing a pub crawl on horseback. Yikes!

Thursday was hot, and it’s meant to be getting hotter over the next few days. We relaxed around camp and went to the river again. In between we watched some videos online of the England fans last night, singing Wonderwall at the rodeo and Sweet Caroline at the match after full time whistle had gone.  The general view is that England fans love their football and are passionate/bonkers about it, and like a beer. It’s all been joyous so far, and long may it continue.
