Not a lot to report

Been quiet on the blogging front, mostly because we don’t have much to report. We stayed at the Rhone camp until Wednesday morning, when we travelled to Lac D’Orient. Our days were variations on; Yenne for a coffee and to walk the dogs, back to camp, lunch, swim, read, sleep and swim again. It was so hot in the day anything more energetic was out of the question, especially for the dogs. We did watch England on Tuesday night, outside in the dark, dressed in our swimmers only since it stayed warm until near midnight. We were the only Brits on site and the only ones up that late. Nil-nil draw was a bit disappointing but we go again Saturday  

We travelled to the Lac D’Orient on Wednesday morning, the first four and a half hour leg back to home. We had planned to stay for 5 nights, but the temperature topped out at 43°C when we arrived so we did nothing until the sun went down, then walked the dogs and had a swift drink at a lakeside cafe. 

Due to the heat we have decided to go home, so took the dogs in for their pre-crossing worming tablets at a local vets after we left, and I also had a little win as I had booked online and paid €48 deposit for the 5 nights but with our ACSI card I got €21 back from the deposit for the one night we actually stayed.

We then did the second four and a half hour leg, to a site near Calais that we had stayed at before. When we arrived there was a queue of campervans, which we accidentally jumped so had to go round the block to the back of the queue, and it had cleared by the time we got back to where we started. Unfortunately, the site was full so we travelled on to another site and are now setup for the night. It is a little inland so warmer than Calais, but the beer is cold and we can soldier through for one more night, especially since it is cooler than the furnace that was the previous site. 

We have booked the 10.48am crossing, but aim to get there early to hopefully get bumped up to an earlier one. 

And tomorrow we will be home.
