3/20/2024 Bali
We arrived in Bali early in the morning and were able to get off the ship at 7:30 a.m.
I wasn't in a hurry as I had been to Bali before so hadn't booked a trip. I had breakfast in peace and then left the ship. Unfortunately, I made a mistake that I would regret: I forgot my hat!
I took a fixed-price taxi that would take me to the Seni Kuta bazaar and it would wait for me there.
A ceremony was taking place there, which also included gamelan music. I watched and listened for a while, then explored the lively city of Kuta.
Without a hat I got hot pretty quickly and bought a kilo of mangosteen and some drinks. Refreshed, I continued hiking, but longed for some relaxation in the cool. I came to a street where there were a number of massage parlors. You can get a massage on board, but at exorbitant prices. I was there for the equivalent of USD 5.00 and really enjoyed it.
Afterwards I felt hungry and found an inviting looking restaurant where I ordered a delicious "Great Bali" cocktail and "quakquak", Balinese style duck. The drink was served in a metal cup, the duck on a bamboo plate with a palm leaf. The food tasted excellent.
Afterwards I hiked a little further, treated myself to a cold Indonesian beer from a street vendor and then found my taxi.
In front of the cruise terminal, I calmly ate all my mangosteens before boarding.
