Le premier jour d'école aux États-Unis

Nous y sommes enfin, nous sommes arrivés dans les écoles. Le troisième jour de notre voyage, nous allons tous à l'école. Un groupe d'entre nous va à la Kennedy High School et l'autre groupe, moi y compris, va à la Washington High School.

La journée scolaire commence pour moi à 7h20. Je vais à l'école avec Ben, mon étudiant d'échange, dans sa voiture. Oui, sa voiture, il a le droit de conduire à 16 ans. Lors de notre arrivée à l'école, Ben m'a emmené à la salle de classe d'allemand. Il est ensuite allé dans sa classe.

8h00 : La journée a commencé par une visite de l'école. Certains étudiants d'échange y ont également participé. La taille de l'école est écrasante, au moins trois fois celle de la FSA. De plus, ils ont deux gymnases, une piscine et deux théâtres. Je veux dire, à quel point c'est cool. L'école a aussi un couloir rempli de photos et de trophées de leurs équipes de football, de baseball, de soccer et de natation.

9h30 : Nous faisons une chasse au trésor. Ils l'ont appelée Goosechase. Nous devions prendre des photos à différents endroits et nous avons gagné des points pour cela. Il y avait trois groupes : rouge, bleu et blanc. J'étais dans l'équipe rouge. Dans une bibliothèque, une dame très gentille nous a aidés. Elle nous a montré un vieux livre de 1922 dont nous avions besoin pour la tâche. L'équipe rouge a gagné la chasse au trésor, probablement grâce à l'aide de la bibliothécaire et aux compétences de conduite d'un élève.

11h00 : C'est l'heure du déjeuner. Ben et moi sommes allés à la cafétéria pour le déjeuner. J'avais eu mon déjeuner de ma mère d'accueil, donc je n'avais rien à acheter. Ben et moi avons mangé avec ses amis. Je dois dire que tout est très différent de l'Allemagne. Tout le monde peut acheter des burgers ou des pâtes pour 3-5$ à la cafétéria.

11h45 : Je suis allé avec Ben à son dernier cours. Cette matière est un mélange de chimie, de bio et de géo. Dans ce cours, ils ont parlé du cycle de l'eau et du cycle de l'azote. J'étais déjà familier avec ce contenu de cours.

13h00 : Le premier jour d'école est terminé. C'est différent de l'Allemagne. La plus grande chose pour moi était la taille immense, les possibilités et la gentillesse de tous.

Le soir, nous avons dîné ensemble et parlé des différences entre l'Allemagne et les États-Unis.

C'est la fin du 3ème jour du voyage.

The first day of school in the USA

Now we have made it, we have arrived at the schools. On the third day of our trip, all of us are going to school. One group of us goes to Kennedy High School and the other group, including me, goes to Washington High School.

The school day starts at 7:20 am for me. I ride to school with Ben, my exchange student, in his car. Yes, his car, he is allowed to drive at the age of 16. When we arrived at school, Ben took me to the German classroom. He then went to his class.

8:00 a.m.: The day started with a tour of the school. Some exchange students also participated. The size of the school is overwhelming, at least three times the size of the FSA. They also have two gyms, a swimming pool, and two theaters. I mean, how cool is that, please. The school also has a hallway just with photos and trophies of their football, baseball, soccer and swim teams.

9:30: We do a scavenger hunt. They called it Goosechase. We had to take pictures in different places and we got points for it. There were three groups red, blue and white. I was on the red team. In a library, a very nice woman helped us. She showed us an old book from 1922 that we needed for the task. Team red won the scavenger hunt, probably because of the help of the librarian and the driving skills of a student.

11:00: Lunch is served. Ben and I went to the cafeteria for lunch. I had gotten my lunch from my host mom, so I didn't have to buy anything. Ben and I ate with his friends. I have to say, it's all very different than in Germany. Everyone can buy burgers or pasta for 3-5$ in the cafeteria.

11:45: I went with Ben to his last class. This subject is a mixture of chemistry, bio and geo. In this class they talked about the water cycle and the nitrogen cycle. I was already familiar with this lesson content.

13:00 The first day of school is over. It is different from Germany. The greatest thing for me was the sheer size, the possibilities and the friendliness of everyone.

In the evening we had dinner together and talked about the differences between Germany and the USA.

This is the end of the 3rd day of the trip.
