The morning is free today. We sleep in and relax in the house while the children play. We only start our tour in the afternoon. There is a parking lot in Hommersak/Riska, which is 15 km away, from where our hike begins. The destination is Lifjell, a viewpoint overlooking Nordjæren with the Gandsfjord, the North Sea, and the big cities as well as Ryfylke. The trail is a gravel path with a steep ascent. We have to climb 260 meters in altitude and after about 45 minutes we reach the top and have a clear view. Michael and Rene carry the two youngest ones on their backs. All around us are granite stones weathered by nature. There is also a mast and a radar station at the top. We sign the summit book. After that, we walk a part of the circular path. Here, a small path leads over the stones, roots, and grassy patches along the mountain. The children run ahead and look for the next red arrow indicating the direction of the trail. We have a small snack at the lake and hike a bit further. We don't manage to complete the entire 9-kilometer route today. 4 kilometers will have to do. The descent is easy. Now we go back to the house. It's already 6:30 pm, but fortunately, dinner is prepared and we won't eat too late.
