On Saturday morning, we went to the city for breakfast. After that, we attended a coffee tasting where we had a short tour explaining how Luwak coffee is made. A cat-like animal, the civet cat, eats the ripe coffee cherries, which are then digested. The beans are then collected from the feces, cleaned, roasted, and ground to make the coffee.
The coffee could be bought there for a very high price, but we tried different kinds at a free coffee tasting, such as coconut, avocado, ginseng, and vanilla coffee, as well as various types of tea.
Afterwards, we continued to the larger rice fields, which were very crowded with tourists. We stood there forever to take a picture on the big swing over the rice fields. But it had to be done 😅
After that, we visited a temple. For this, I specifically bought a sarong (cloak) at the market in the morning because one could not enter the temple without it. However, we saw that one could also rent the sarong on-site. The fabric is nice, so it was okay. 😅
In the temple, there was also a holy spring where one could bathe. However, we didn't do that, as it was already quite late and we still needed to find a driver to take us back. After the temple, there were again many stalls with souvenirs (just like you typically find in tourist spots).
The vendors there were very pushy and sometimes held us back in order to make us buy something. They were really persistent in trying to sell us things. I ended up buying some bracelets and a bag. Still, everything was very cheap.
Then we went back to the Airbnb; on the way, I also bought shoes since mine broke at the rice fields, and I was really just walking around in flip-flops here 😅
We then went to a bar that wasn't far from us. We also met some Germans there and spent the whole evening there.
