Wednesday 13.12.
Our host Quin introduces us to Sticky Rice with Peanuts (Xoi lac) or with roasted onions with bean paste (xoi xeo) for breakfast.
YUMMY
Afterwards, we have lunch with our new friends Mina from Germany and Hamish from New Zealand.
We get to know and love Bun Cha!!
You get a kind of soup with papaya in it, along with meatballs, noodles, spring rolls and many different herbs.
You dip all of this in the soup
FINALLY WE CAN EAT WHAT WE BOTH REALLY LIKE!
After being well nourished, we check out the bike stores to find the best deal. (Isi brings me a new rear hub that needs to be changed)
In the evening, we meet up again with our new friends for Hu Tiu and beer.
In the 'Beer Paradise', a glass of beer only costs 6000 Dong, which is about 23 cents! You can have a couple of drinks there... right??
Again Mina & Hamish
Again shopping (stylish shoes and shirt for Patrick)
Again Hu Tiu
Again Beer
Unfortunately, today is the last day of our new friends, so it's time to say goodbye...
We will meet Hamish again in Auckland and spend a few days with him, Mina will visit us in Nuremberg...
See you soon, dear ones
Friday 15.12.
Today we are a little lazy and stay at home until lunchtime.
We watch the movie 'BLOOD ROAD.'
It's about an American woman whose father went missing during the Vietnam War, until his remains were found later on.
She follows the HoChiMinh Trail with a Vietnamese woman by bike to eventually find the location where her father's remains and his fighter jet were found.
Highly recommended.
After the heavy stuff, Patrick cleans our bikes (which definitely deserve it) and he looks so good while doing it!
Now we're heading to the university, as our host Quin has invited us to an open day... let's see... It seems to be something fancy :)
hm let's see how fancy we can get.....
The evening was great, the university really puts in a lot of effort - and they have some amazing technical equipment....
Saturday 16.12.+ Sunday 17.12.
Finally, our friend Isi is coming - we're going to have Bun Cha with her and have a wild time!
Other than that, we explore the Old Quarter and the Westlake on foot, keep an eye out for smartphones because mine is acting up again, and play cards in the evening.
My bike now has a new hub, Patrick has new pedals, and everything fits so far.
Now we're planning our climbing trip to Cat Ba.
