Oslo - Ljördalen

Since our Oslo pass was still valid for a few more hours, we decided to visit the Norwegian Museum of Cultural History this morning. Before we did that, we took the bus towards the center to try out some of the other delicacies from the bakery where we ate our cinnamon roll yesterday. Then we took the bus to the museum, which started getting very crowded as we got closer. This bus line also goes to the Fram Museum that we visited yesterday, and these are two of the most popular museums that Oslo has to offer.

The Norwegian Museum of Cultural History is a cultural and historical gem that shows how people in Norway lived from the 16th century to the present. In the open-air museum, large green spaces accommodate 160 historical buildings, including the Gol Stave Church from the 13th century. Here, you can wander between regions and discover the daily life in Norway through the ages, moving from city to countryside. Farms from various regions are set amidst meadows, livestock, and ski farms, showcasing historical rural life. In the old town of the museum, you'll find houses and shops from different social classes, surrounded by cobblestone streets. There were also some exhibitions which we decided not to visit due to time constraints. We still had a long 4-hour drive to our next destination.

Around 1 PM, we departed for Villa Fregn in Ljördalen, where we will stay for 2 nights. Surprisingly, we received a phone call during the day from a Norwegian number. We answered and spoke with someone named Bart who asked if we would like to dine at Villa Fregn in the evening. Apparently, we had booked with a Belgian who operates a B&B here without realizing it, and who was once featured in the show 'The High North.' He started his project here three years ago with his wife and children. Upon our evening arrival, after a few stops on the way, we were warmly welcomed and received an upgrade for our room. We are next to a small river and have a view of the mountains. Tomorrow, we hope to be woken by an elk standing outside our window. Now we'll collect some information for tomorrow because we will be visiting the national park nearby. I'm curious to see what that will bring.
