Mariestad - Suro - Laxhall - Hattarevik - Mariestad
Since we did a lot of driving yesterday and the weather was not very favorable, we didn’t do much walking. Today, however, we made up for it with a short walk in the morn

Our penultimate day has arrived. Today we drive back to our starting point, Gothenburg, where we will take the boat to Germany tomorrow evening. I had a few small things planned, but Anne's urge to visit a real Swedish Ikea was stronger than I thought. So much so that during the first little walk we took, she had quite a fall. Fortunately, the bodywork is still fine, and everything was limited to just some dents and bruises. We still had about 170 km to drive, and along the way, we came across an old factory site that had been converted into a hotel/sauna/store complex. We walked around there for half an hour and then drove on to the Ikea located just outside Gothenburg.
Just like many Swedes apparently do on a Sunday because we had to wait in the restaurant to get something to eat. I decided to stay in the restaurant while Anne went on a quest. After an hour and a few small finds, we continued towards our last B&B. It is a 40-minute walk from Gothenburg center, and we could easily check in ourselves and have a parking spot right in front of the door. Since it was only 5 PM, we decided to take a quick peek in the center. We walked to Haga, an old part of the city, which is filled with nice shops and cafes. Unfortunately, they were already closed, but we will definitely come back here tomorrow.
After exploring a bit, our stomachs started to rumble, and we had a hamburger at a local place in a small square near the harbor. Wow, that was the best burger we had eaten in years. Simple but very tasty. Eventually, we returned to our little house by evening, and we are looking forward to tomorrow to further explore the city. Mette asked for cinnamon rolls, and she will get them. We found a bakery here that makes them as big as a whole loaf of bread!! Get ready, Mette.
