Gothenburg - Lysekil - Smögen - Halden

Our boat trip proceeded as expected, very calmly, but something strange happened during the night. The alarm went off at 4 AM because it was still set to the previous day, and I decided to turn it off, forgetting that I was sleeping in the top bunk bed. Before I knew it, I tumbled down, resulting in a bruised ankle and some bruises on my shoulder and head today.

We were able to smoothly drive off the boat, and half an hour after docking, we headed towards Lysekil. This is a small picturesque village located between the famous red granite cliffs where the Gullmarsfjord meets the deep sea of the Skagerrak. To get there, we avoided the E6 highway and took a scenic route, which required us to take a small ferry. We took a short walk of about an hour, climbing over the rocks to reach the sea.

After that, we continued our journey to Smögen. This is a very popular town on the southwest coast of Sweden. Here, there is a pier 600 meters long where boats can dock directly, and along the pier, there are all these old fishermen's houses that have been converted into charming little shops or restaurants. It is bustling with tourists, all wanting to take a photo with the colorful houses that appear on many postcards. We walked all the way down the pier and decided to first head to the coastline. Here, you won't find sandy beaches but only smooth rock formations that are very easy to climb. Of course, we climbed to the highest point to take some nice pictures.

When we returned to the village, many tourists had already left, allowing us to enjoy everything more peacefully. We quickly ate a sandwich with freshly caught fish and then headed towards Halden in Norway, where we will be staying for the next 3 nights. We also called Mette because our Finn needed her stitches removed today. Fortunately, that went well. Tomorrow, we are off again, but we won’t reveal what that will be just yet.
