Tuning into China and Singapore

Many myths surround this place; however, none seem to hold as much significance for Chinese culture as the Panxi Gorge (磻溪) near Baoji, which we visited last year:</div><p><br /></p><p><a href='https://vakantio.de/xiefuzi-reise-blog/die-wiege-der-chinesischen-kultur'>The Cradle of Chinese Culture</a></p><figure> <source type='image/avif'></source><source></source> <source type='image/avif'></source><source></source> <img src='https://img1.vakantio.de/uploads/d8e0ca080c748f2f3156d5dffb92af84_small.jpg' /> <figcaption>2025 Panxi Gorge near Baoji</figcaption></figure><p>A year prior, our trip to Hangzhou focused mainly on the much older Liangzhu culture from the late Stone Age, with its remarkable waterway system, which fell victim to an unusual and prolonged flooding period 4,300 years ago, long before anthropogenic climate change came into play. The clay layer that washed over the remains allows us to learn about the well-preserved history of the ancient culture today. His students at the Jixia Academy played a crucial role in shaping the history around the establishment of the Chinese Empire. Li Si (李斯) became a powerful chancellor under Emperor Qin Shihuangdi, while Han Feizi (韩非子) was a prominent theorist of Legalism, and his writings greatly influenced Qin Shihuangdi. Therefore, I expect many spontaneous changes. However, a visit to HDB (Housing and Development Board) housing estates is planned, immersing myself in the impressive housing policy of the city-state. Two years ago, I visited the historically significant Selegie House in the Rochor district, and this year I aim to dive into modernity. During my multi-month stay in Singapore six years ago, I attended an exhibition on the concept of the new Tengah neighborhood. I now want to explore this emerging area with its first completed residential buildings, green spaces, and community facilities, even though I will likely encounter many construction sites. The metro line there is also set to commence operations in two years, and many neighborhoods are still unfinished. Nonetheless, I want to take a look at future living in Singapore. 2025 Statue of Emperor Qin Shihuangdi in Xi'an

In China, we are planning a trip to Qinhuangdao. The city honors the first emperor of China, Qin Shihuangdi, with its name, as he supposedly sought immortality at sea at this very spot during one of his extensive travels around 2,240 years ago. Our visit to this city connects to our visit to the Terracotta Army in Xi'an last year, which is situated in front of Qin Shihuangdi's tomb:
