Our further journey took us from Lemmer to Harlingen.
Harlingen is a city in the northern Netherlands in the province of Friesland and is located at a tip of the Frisian coast that extends slightly into the Wadden Sea.
The entire center of Harlingen is a protected monument and is characterized by numerous monumental buildings.
You can see magnificent warehouses, beautiful facades, and stroll along the lively inner harbors and through charming alleys. In the city, you can find many treasures, such as the splendid Noorderhaven with monuments and the “Fries Blauw” (typical Harlingen ceramics).
Additionally, there are many carefully restored monuments that remind one of a vibrant trading past. Magnificent patrician houses, lively inner harbors, canals, and bridges color the city center. There are also many great shops, a museum, and a wide selection of cafes, restaurants, and beautiful terraces.
Here we stayed one night at the
motorhome parking lot Nieuwe Vissershaven
Nieuwe Vissershaven, 8861 NX Harlingen, NL,
from which you can easily walk into the city.
