During our 2.5-week tour in the Netherlands to the IJsselmeer, North Holland, and Zeeland, we reached our first stop and explored Lemmer. The beach of Lemmer, the history of the town, along with café terraces - all of this makes this little piece of land a perfect destination for a relaxing holiday in the Waterland van Friesland region. There are plenty of options in Lemmer! On a guided city walk, you learn everything about fishing, trade, and shipping. This includes taking the famous 'Round around the Dock', i.e., the streets by the water in the center. A must-see in Lemmer is the Ir. D.F. Wouda Pumping Station, the largest still-functioning steam-powered pumping station in the world, which has now been declared a UNESCO World Heritage site.
