Beuren - Days 33 and 35

We spent the last days of our journey in the spa and recreation town of Beuren in the Esslingen district at the edge of the Swabian Jura in Baden-Württemberg.

We had a nice spot at the Panorama Therme.

Beuren was first mentioned in documents in 1304, making it quite an ancient place, located along the Württemberg Wine Route, which passes many attractions.

Beuren has managed to maintain a homogeneous townscape in its old center to this day, reflecting the town's heyday in the 15th and 16th centuries. Several valuable old timber-framed houses still stand. In total, 70 historical buildings in the center of Beuren are protected as monuments.

In the historic center, you'll also find the late Gothic St. Nicholas Church, which was built in the 15th century on the site of a Romanesque chapel.

Also among Beuren's prominent cultural monuments is the town hall from 1556, located across from the church, which was built during Beuren's flourishing period.

The Naked Bather Fountain in Beuren symbolizes the Panorama Therme. The group of figures recalls the approximately 500-year history of bathing culture in the town.

One day, we visited the Beuren Open-Air Museum, and we also went to the ruins of Hohenneuffen. More on that in separate posts.

But as always, every holiday comes to an end, and as it became clear that the weather was becoming quite unstable, we arrived back home a few days earlier than planned.

Overall, we had 5 wonderful weeks during which we saw a lot.
