No ticket at the toll booth
Yesterday was Sunday, our day of rest. We used it to thoroughly clean the motorhome, do laundry, and refill our water supplies. Today, we actually planned to stay longer

Icke made it! And it was even 17 kilometers. Unbelievable what powers a market can unleash in women! I still remember our first – and last – bike ride on the dike in Stolpe. After about three kilometers, we had to turn back because “the stabbing in my thighs” was unbearable. This time, everything went smoothly.
The market in Cecina is huge. Compared to the street markets in Spain – of which I feel I know every single one like the back of my hand – the offerings here are of higher quality, and accordingly, the prices are higher. For true bargain hunters like Icke, this only makes it more interesting. It simply takes longer to hunt down the prey and satisfy the thrill of the chase.
When we were on our way back after nearly four hours, the distance was no longer an issue. Suddenly my phone rang – it was Angelika. She had set off earlier with Martin and stayed longer at the market. The good Martin had eventually decided to bail, and I suspect Angelika was looking for “transport options.” But we were already gone, so she had to bike her mountain of bags and boxes home alone.
However, this did not dampen her joy. At the campsite, the haul was presented and admired. “Now our motorhome looks like a boutique inside,” Angelika laughed. She’s right – I saw it. And now I know that I can count myself lucky …
