New Year's Eve, hostel life, many expenses -> Wellington.

Upon arriving in Wellington, it was time to park the car (next time I best not park incorrectly -100$) and pack the backpack for the hostel. I spent the first 3 nights at the Waterloo Hostel and the last 3 at the Nomads Hostel, as I met other people there. I celebrated New Year's Eve with friends and fellow backpackers in downtown Wellington. The streets were crowded and the clubs were very well attended, making it a very lively night.

At midnight, everyone gathered at the harbor to watch the rather poor fireworks display and made a toast together for the New Year. Afterwards, the celebrations continued. The next days were filled with shopping on Cuba Street, diving at the harbor, swimming at the pool with a spa area, and just hanging out at the hostel.

On the last evening before the others headed to the South Island, we visited a karaoke bar with billiards and had a fantastically fun evening.

However, I wasn’t alone as I quickly got along well with 2 other guys from my room. We played basketball, cards, and went out to party one last time before I head to the South Island today.

Wellington will remain in my memory as an exciting and cool city that especially damages the wallet. The time spent was very nice and successful.

I am looking forward to the South Island and am leaving the North Island behind with a tear in my eye.
