Finally done picking cherries, next, I went for a wash and shopping, and then back for a short distance to Mt. Cook. There, I met up with Lilly and Leonie again, with whom I spent the rest of the day/evening. We went swimming, sunbathed, and played Carbo. The next day, I completed the “Hooker Valley Track,” which leads to the foot of Mount Cook (the highest mountain in New Zealand). A dreamlike landscape with impressive mountains and lakes.
After this track, I walked to the “Tasman Glacier” where I then took a plunge in the glacial lake at a freezing 3 degrees. Extremely cold, but I managed quite well, and I had actually imagined it to be even colder. Afterwards, I headed back to camp where I spent the evening with the others before heading to Queenstown the next morning.
