Sick and the Last Days on the Farm

Published: 01.10.2024

The last days were marked by severe stomach pains and boredom, which took a toll on me mentally as well. Besides tea, banana with dry bread, and apple, there was hardly anything else in me. However, fortunately, I am healthy again and in good spirits.

On Saturday, we gathered Nick's sheep and vaccinated them, as well as docked the lambs' tails. The guys grilled those tails and ate them, which was completely normal for them, but a specialty I did not dare to try.

Yesterday, I did a lot of gardening work and mowed the lawn for the third time; it’s crazy how fast it grows. I also noticed that spring is slowly coming, the sun is coming out more often, and the trees are getting their leaves. The same goes for me; my beard and hair are growing as they please.

Today was my last day on the farm before it continues tomorrow. It was a nice conclusion, with a horse riding lesson where Tui taught me everything, so I got to ride “Schompcronay” myself. We also visited the city of Whangarei for shopping. I had my first dürüm, which was surprisingly good, and got some useful stuff for the car, including an air mattress ($9), which I hope will make my night in the car more comfortable.

I will leave the farm tomorrow with a tearful eye because I had a really good time with many experiences and the family was super nice. Nevertheless, I am looking forward to new adventures.

Ps: Farm work is not for the faint-hearted;)
