After escaping the mosquito plague the day before yesterday, we headed to Landmannalaugur yesterday. A place of extremes. The landscape is truly breathtaking and absolutely worth seeing, as is the campsite with its absurd goings-on; the prices are also ridiculous (1 night in the dormitory costs €120 per person). The whole experience has the character of a base camp at the foot of an eight-thousander. The access to the campsite goes through a river. In the late afternoon, we went for a hike and managed to summit a mountain; this is quite possible here since it stays light for a very long time.
