There's not much to report about the fifth day, as it was more or less a travel day. After a final breakfast in Toronto, we collected our luggage, checked out, and made our way to Union Station. From there, we took the train back to Pearson Airport, where our flight to Calgary departed at 1:30 p.m.
Arrival in Calgary and rental car chaos
The plane actually arrived half an hour earlier than scheduled. Then we went to pick up the rental car. Unlike the car in Toronto, the cars here were quite neglected. We had to complain, and the second car wasn't exactly clean either. But then we were off.
First impressions of the Rockies
Leaving Calgary, we headed onto Trans-Canada Highway No. 1. The Rockies came into view after only a short time. A bit of smoke from the surrounding wildfires slightly obscured the view, but the closer we got, the more clearly the mountains and forests emerged.
Arrival at the resort
After an hour and a half, we arrived at our destination: a resort near Banff, nestled between the first large mountains and surrounded by pine forest. The jet lag had left us quite exhausted. After settling into our apartment and having dinner, we collapsed into bed.
