We set off towards Frankfurt before half past nine – unusually early for us, but the nervousness before the big adventure drove us out of the house quicker than usual today. The journey itself was fortunately uneventful. Only the search for our reserved parking spot at the airport turned out to be a bit bumpy: We had chosen a section with three free but far too small parking spaces. After a detour through a maze of one-way streets, we finally found ourselves in front of the parking garage exit. Upon inquiry via the intercom, we were told to use our reservation code at the exit, return to the entrance, and take a paper ticket. How this will be settled in the end remains to be seen – we might end up paying double. Let's see how it goes!
Flight and arrival in Toronto
After we finally found the parking lot and checked in our luggage, we were able to relax while waiting for boarding. The flight itself was… well, just okay. 8 hours and 20 minutes with limited legroom in a cramped space filled with so many people is certainly not pleasant – by the end, even my rear hurt. But at least: We landed on time, and our luggage was right there.
First impressions in Downtown Toronto
With the Union Express and a walk of three blocks, we reached our hotel in Downtown Toronto. After freshening up, we had a bit of energy left. Having had our fill with airplane food and snacks throughout the day, we decided to take a short evening stroll. We admired the illuminated skyscrapers, had an ice cream, and then collapsed into our beds at the end of a 24-hour day.
Tomorrow we’re off to the CN Tower and some sightseeing – we’re excited!
