Universal Studios and Walk of Fame
Early rise, as we had almost 1 hour drive to the Universal Studios. We wanted to arrive as early as possible to avoid the big rush.It worked out reasonably well, and shortly after...

After a long and exhausting day at Universal Studios, we wanted to take it a bit easier for the next two days.
Since our accommodation was not far from Venice Beach, we headed there. First, we visited the promenade, of course, passing by the strong guys at Muscle Beach. Unfortunately, Arni wasn't there and to be honest, it was less impressive than expected. But never mind, because the beach is amazing. Very wide and endlessly long. Here, the Pacific was also a bit warmer, so we actually went swimming in the ocean for the first time. Otherwise, it’s interesting to see what Americans bring to the beach. They sometimes bring pavilions that you would need a building permit for back in good old Tschörmänie 😎 and even though the beach is really big, they don’t really maintain distance. That didn’t bother us; there was always something to watch 👀 .
A lovely day at the beach and when hunger struck in the evening, we reserved a table at a Greek restaurant. Very authentic, but also very expensive. It was delicious though 😋
The next day, we had to be out of the place by 11:00. Once we had packed everything up, a little guy visited us. If we hadn't been careful, he would have almost gotten into the apartment. Our flight was not until 00:15. So back to the beach with all our stuff, where we had to buy a sun umbrella for that one day, because it was unbearable without it. For early October, it was still quite hot and the sun was really strong.
We splashed around in the sea again and had a lovely day until 18:00. When we were about to leave, we gave the umbrella to an Italian living there. He could hardly believe his luck 😊
Since there are public toilets and showers everywhere, we washed off the salt not far from our car and looked for something to eat again. We ended up at an Italian restaurant in the third row. When we didn’t want a glass with our beer, we were immediately revealed as Germans. We all laughed heartily. The pizza was good, but nearly $30 for one is kind of steep.
Then it was off to the airport, where we first returned the rental car.
On the way there, the stark social difference (especially visible here in Los Angeles) became obvious again. There was someone just lying on a mattress by the side of the street and no one cared.
Check-in, waiting, and soon it would be time to head towards Panama. But first, a nearly 6-hour flight to San Salvador in a flying deep-freeze. We have really never experienced it that cold in an airplane 🥶
