Today we decided to go to a nicer hotel for some brunch. It is situated alone on a point in the northern part of the island and has a small private beach.
Normally, you would be allowed to swim in the pool if you dine at a hotel, but here they charged 650 baht per person to swim.
Compare that to a dinner that costs 200 baht per person. Thanks, but no thanks.
The pool was also large, and there were perhaps 10 people lounging around it with four swimming.
Never mind, we need food anyway. I ordered an appetizer of grilled tuna, Lawa ordered carbonara, and Mulle ordered a club sandwich. So no slow-cooked meals directly.
After 40 minutes, I went inside to ask if they had forgotten about us. Note again, we were the only ones in the restaurant when we arrived.
Did they get a tip? No, not really! But the food was very good, and the view was magical.
We took the beach route both to and from to get some exercise, and it was a nice walk. We found lots of fun things along the way, a nice crab claw that had probably just fallen off its owner, various jellyfish, and millions of crabs. We've seen these crabs every day when we walk there, but Lawa hadn’t. She was incredibly fascinated.
Then we did some swimming at home and had a little snack. We went through a few extra pages in Lawa's English textbook and as a reward, she got some extra screen time.
Our lovely neighbor came over in the afternoon and hung out over a Chang.
Then we took a car to Lanta Lilly for a pub quiz on Swedish summer hits.
Imagine our surprise when we didn't come in last.... we scored quite a few points. Even though I lost Mulle's focus a bit, especially when we got to the pop music section.
It was more than packed, and we bumped into a few celebrities, including the couple we had been in close contact with when we stayed at Garden Hill, as well as some of Lawa's classmates and their families.
We also managed to close the place down with the owner couple, a bit past Lawa's bedtime. But it was nice. Mulle finally got to stand behind the bar and be a bit of a show-off. But we got the hint when the waiter came out with the bill without us asking for it 😜 By then, the last guests had already left over two hours ago.
It became a short reading session for Lawa while mom and dad had to suffer for drinking a Smirnoff Ice with presumed Red Bull in it. There will likely be no sleeping for a few hours. 😳
