Crossing Pitcairn - Papeete (Day 2)

We are passing many small atolls and, thanks to the presentations, have learned quite a bit about their formation and development, as well as the flora and fauna. By 16:00, we have passed the Manuhangi Atoll. It is uninhabited, and the only living creatures there are coconut crabs. We have already seen coconut crabs on Pitcairn. However, we now know that only the young ones are the size of coconuts. The mature specimens can grow up to 1.5 meters and are the largest arthropods (invertebrates).

The crew from various departments on the ship presented themselves on deck this afternoon at different stations and held small competitions. The passengers show a lot of respect to all the staff, so everyone showed up nicely.

Hasi and Mugg were pampered again and each received a portion of ice cream. It is indeed quite hot.
