Trip to San Antonio and Boarding Seabourn Pursuit

San Antonio, Chile

At exactly 11:00, we were picked up from our hotel by our chauffeur and were able to quickly head to the port of San Antonio. San Antonio is located about 100 km west of Santiago, similar to Valparaíso, just a bit further south.

The landscape along the way is quite typical for the region around Santiago, and along the highway, there are several small towns and some favelas, which seem to be primarily inhabited by immigrants.

San Antonio is also situated on a rather steep coast and gives a very lively and safe impression. The port itself is mainly a container port, so it's not particularly beautiful.

Our ship is quite large for nearly 200 passengers, but of course smaller than ships that accommodate 2,000 passengers. The layout is similar to other Seabourn ships, with suites on one half of most decks and a large common area (restaurant, theater, café, etc.) on the other half. Our cabin is also comparable to the one on the last Seabourn ship. The bathroom might be a bit smaller, with just one large sink beside the separate shower and bathtub, rather than two. This is probably due to its expedition nature ;). In fact, we even have a drying cabinet where we can dry our wet clothes.

Now we're about to go for the usual emergency instruction.
