Emu Bay and Stokes Bay, Kangaroo Island

The weather was quite varied today, with short rain showers, moments of sunshine, and overcast skies. At least the strong wind has calmed down, so the ferry will operate again tomorrow.

Today we explored the northern coast of the island. First, we went to Emu Bay. Despite the name, we didn't see any emus. However, we did see several birds, including a hawk the size of an eagle. Here is also the longest white sand beach on the island. This likely explains the number of holiday homes that are currently unoccupied. So far, it has been possible to drive along the beach by car. However, it seems they want to prohibit this and are in the process of closing the access road.

After that, we continued towards Stokes Bay. Just before the bay, we spotted a kangaroo with its joey. Stokes Bay is less of a lovely bay but rather a beautiful, wild one. The recent stormy days have disturbed quite a bit here, washing things ashore and so on.

As hoped, on our way along the road, we encountered various groups of kangaroos that were quite easy to photograph.

On the way back to Kingscote, we saw koalas in two places again. These little creatures are just adorable.
