Yesterday evening, we took a walk in the neighborhood where our hotel is located. Contrary to our expectations, it is a lovely area with plenty of greenery, small parks with wild chickens, numerous high-rise buildings (some under construction), and many small, old houses. In Singapore, however, you can never be sure if the small, old houses are still original. For example, China Town was completely demolished, and the old houses were rebuilt with concrete at its core. What is certainly beautiful and pleasant is the abundance of greenery. Right next to our hotel, there is a high-rise building completely covered in vegetation. Other high-rise buildings have large green spaces on various floors, and there are big trees on the rooftops. Overall, this creates a pleasant climate. The neighborhood also features large areas that were recently reclaimed from the sea and are likely to be developed soon.
There are also many small eateries here with good food. However, they tend to be above our price range. The beautiful aspects come at a cost.
