built in 1790, we meet Elizabeth, a school colleague of Cosima from high school, at the center of Santa Fe, the Plaza. She has been living in Santa Fe for about 10 years. We have a lunch together, and the next afternoon, we spend at her beautiful house on the outskirts of Santa Fe with her and her husband, Ken, engaged in lively conversation.</p>

<p style='text-align:justify'>In Santa Fe, as an artist city, there is not only a multitude of galleries but also the Museum. The renowned American painter lived from 1887 to 1986 and spent many years of her life in New Mexico. She was a founder of American modernism and a pioneer as an artist. Her monumental flower paintings are among her most famous subjects.</p>

<p style='text-align:justify'>We also visit three other churches, the Cathedral of San Francis of Assisi, built in the late 19th century, which provides a clear contrast with its neo-Romanesque architectural style to the otherwise common building styles in the city. The same is true for the Chapel, a now-abandoned church built by the same architect as the cathedral. Our next destination is Santa Fe, the capital of the state of New Mexico. Founded in 1610 as a Spanish colony, Santa Fe is not only the oldest but also the highest of the state capitals in the USA, situated at an elevation of over 2100 m.

Upon our arrival at the campsite, we are surprised by one of the rare thunderstorms here; it not only rains heavily but also hails quite a lot.
