BLOG 21: Finale in Denver

The final leg of our RV journey takes us from the Arkansas Valley once more up Kenosha Pass at 3050 m, offering a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains.

Then we head down to the “Mile High City” – Denver officially sits at an elevation of 1600 m.

Initially, we are at the campground in Cherry Creek State Park in the southern part of Denver, where the often unpopular task of emptying our rolling home awaits. For those interested, this blog also includes a few pictures from the interior of our RV.

After we return the vehicle and receive a small compensation for the various problems encountered during the trip, an UBER taxi takes us to our hotel – actually an apartment house of a rather unconventional kind, the “Acoma House” sees itself as an artist hotel – which is evident both outside and inside. Each room is designed by a different artist – ours is the “Danielle Seewalker Art Suite” featuring buffalo motifs…

Upon arrival, we realize that the road is closed, forcing us to haul our luggage a bit on foot to the hotel entrance – this weekend marks the “Denver Chalk Art Festival” in this area – artists and those aspiring to be artists are invited to beautify the streets with their chalk drawings. There are also a few pictures about this at the end of the blog.

The long journey with so many impressions has made us a bit tired, so we refrain from visiting any museums in the area and focus instead on a stroll through the rather nice downtown area. Some of the streets in the center are pedestrian zones.

Denver is the capital of Colorado, and around 3.2 million people live in the metropolitan area.

And just like that, our journey is practically over; only the long return trip awaits us.

With a Lufthansa Airbus 380, we first fly for 9 ½ hours to Munich and shortly after with Air Dolomiti for the quick 'hop' to Graz, followed by a taxi home!
