The first day at Rivamare was forgettable. Only rain, wind, and starting over again. I actually wanted to hike to the lakes with Mayla, which are also here without rain. But there’s no chance, the paths
are completely flooded. So back to the beach and towards the town. On the Lungomare, Mayla and I are all alone today. At night, it rains and storms so loudly that we can hardly hear our own words.
But then! The next day brings pure sunshine. We have breakfast outside for the first time, wash laundry, and enjoy what we actually wanted: SUN! During our Sunday walk, the Lungomare looks completely different. People, open bars and cafés, and Carnevale. In the evening, there's a beautiful sunset atmosphere with great clouds. And we receive the sad news that a dear longtime camper has passed away despite initially good news.
Since the weather forecast is getting worse again, we drive to Gallipoli. The road from Torre San Giovanni isn’t easy: everything is underwater.
We visit Gallipoli (a lot of old stones and somehow always the same) and continue on to Taranto. A route we will avoid in the future. Bad roads, nothing to see, and it drags on.
Tonight we are at Camping Sun Bay in San Vito near Taranto. It feels like they opened just for us. The wind is blowing fiercely, but we have a sea view. Let’s see what we will do. The weather will only get good again at the end of the month.
