After a very good, hearty breakfast, we started at 9:00 AM and decided to travel through Switzerland on highways. Without highways, it would take 9 hours of pure driving time, but with the highway and the toll sticker for €44, it was only 6 hours of driving time.
That turned out to be a good decision, as we arrived in Thonon around 5:30 PM at 34 degrees. Before that, we enjoyed a very nice ice cream and a café au lait right by the lake. We first headed to the starting point of the Route des Grandes Alpes and then to the hotel, where after a Stiefelbier, it was time to shower and then head to the hotel restaurant.

Tomorrow morning, the 'real' route begins, which is why we are here.
