Departure in the morning at 08:00 from the Total gas station in Bockenem. It was a fresh 15 degrees, and the driving was great with little traffic. After 200km, we stopped at a truck stop to refuel and have a coffee. Shortly after the start, we encountered a traffic jam due to a one-lane construction site, which cost us over 1.5 hours, and it had become quite warm in the meantime. After the traffic jam, the temperature rose to over 30 degrees, but after Würzburg, we drove along the Main River and the vineyards, with excellent roads featuring many sweeping curves and mostly top-notch surfaces. After Schwäbisch Hall, we took a detour through one-lane forest paths, followed by heavy traffic and 32 degrees towards Stuttgart. This dragged on quite a bit until 18:00 when we finally arrived, completely sweaty, at the hotel in Mähringen. However, after our first beer and a shower, followed by a fantastic dinner in the beer garden, everything was right in the world again. Tomorrow, we have over 400km ahead of us, and if we want to avoid highways in Switzerland, it will be 9 hours of pure driving time, which we are still contemplating.
