Stage 4: Menton - Gorge du Verdon to Alpes d'Huez
Started at 9:00 AM at the IBIS Hotel in Menton with a temperature of 29 degrees. With the traffic, the 'local' scooter and motorcycle riders, and the heat, it wasn't really a pleasure to get out of the city. We refueled and had a little delay, and then it was done, and in nice 30-degree weather, we headed towards Gorge du Verdon. Our GPS had a bit of a crazy day, and we ended up going the wrong way a few times. At noon, we had pizza, cola, and café au lait for two in Castellane, while the other two had a better tour that was a whopping 50 km longer. The route around the Gorge du Verdon, with some viewpoints, was really impressive, and by 6:30 PM we were at the hotel. The room was okay, shower in the hallway was also fine, and the food
