I have to introduce you to the Italian city of Udine. What a gem! It is located near the borders of Austria and Slovenia, thus at the eastern edge of Italy. Perhaps that’s why it...

This beach club is special. It is even the last of its kind in all of Europe. A relic from past times, indeed.
However, it's not particularly beautiful here. Well, Trieste is certainly worth seeing, and a sea swimming pool should always be worthwhile.
But take a close look: Doesn't it seem a bit small and enclosed? There are reasons for that. Here, men and women are separated. The wall between the genders extends a bit into the sea, but some men just swim a little further out and take a peek over.
The price is reasonable; 1.20 euros per person is affordable for everyone. I couldn't help but chuckle a little at the counter. There's a small modern ticket machine that spits out the ticket after you drop in the coins. But there's also a young man who takes the coins from you and tosses them into the machine. This approach used to be called 'hidden unemployment.'
So what grade would I give this beach club? In terms of quirkiness, it gets a solid 1. Although I must admit that I enjoyed being able to change without a care, as no one is staring. Having women together certainly has its advantages.
The outdated beach club was also pleasantly empty. However, the pebbled beach is a bit uncomfortable for my feet. It only gets a 4 for that. And the view or ambiance cannot be compared to an idyllic natural beach, so I give it a 3 here. That averages out to a 3 overall.
