I had no idea that it was already boot season again. It's August and it's 28°C in full sunshine.

But The Weeknd is in town and the typical fan looks like this: Female, at most in her late 20s, pretty, often with long hair and very stylishly dressed. This means that the majority of girls wear very short dresses or shorts and black high boots! Alternatively, but less frequently, high-heeled sandals are worn (very difficult to walk in). So now think of me: I'm in my late 50s. Yes, I was wearing a party outfit and had I been informed, I could have also had high black boots. But of course, I wasn't the typical target audience. However, I find The Weeknd's music quite appealing to the masses, so it's suitable for me as well.

His well-known hits are generally very melodic, accompanied by electronic music, and catchy. The often dark lyrics hide a little bit for us Germans.

Besides the music, I also find the person behind the artist name The Weeknd very interesting. In reality, his name is Abel Makkonen Tesfaye and he comes from Canada, where he was born in Toronto in 1990. He is of Ethiopian descent and also speaks their official language.

His early teenage years were marked by drug addiction and de facto homelessness, as he slept at friends' places or even pretended to be in love with women to stay with them.

Only music turned his life around. He uploaded his first works anonymously and without video to YouTube. He only used the abbreviation XO. The music was so good that it couldn't be attributed to anyone, and music blogs wanted to identify the ghost. In the end, it was Drake, also from Canada, who discovered him and took him under his wing.

His alter ego The Weeknd came from the idea of sketching his path and means: The one who set out on a weekend and never returned. For legal reasons, The Weekend became The Weeknd without the extra
