2026 - June - Berlin Olympiastadion - Bruno Mars Concert

You probably can’t imagine what it’s like to be a superfan. Honestly, I can’t either. How it feels to be completely fixated on a star as a teenager or in your twenties, and to wait in line for hours at a pop-up store for T-shirts and other merchandise.

I happened to be at Potsdamer Platz and wondered about the huge line. It was the Bruno Mars pop-up store. Just walking the length of the line took 2 minutes and 55 seconds (I have to film it). Roughly estimating, you would have to wait at least an hour and a half to two hours here. And all for things you could theoretically order online. But maybe that’s exactly what a true fan needs: that special atmosphere, the shared experience, and the many like-minded people. Deep down, I can somewhat understand that.

But the ultimate experience is, of course, the concert itself. Bruno Mars booked the Berlin Olympiastadion three times, on June 26, 28, and 29, 2026. All three concerts were sold out. That means around 70,000 visitors for each show, and a total of about 210,000 fans.

We were at the third concert. While the first two dates experienced historically high temperatures around 40°C, it was a pleasant 27°C that evening. Towards the end of the concert, the thermometer showed only about 23°C. Fortunately, the announced thunderstorm did not materialize.

Starting from 4 PM, the first fans streamed into the Olympiastadion. The excitement was palpable everywhere.

The evening opened with Victoria Monét and Anderson .Paak as DJ Pee .Wee. Anderson .Paak later returned to the stage as Bruno Mars’ sidekick.

And then...

Thousands of ecstatic fans and we were right in the middle. As soon as Bruno Mars sang his first note, even though he wasn’t on stage yet and it wasn’t even lit up, the crowd screamed and jumped out of their seats. I loved it.

I much prefer that kind of vibrant atmosphere to everyone sitting motionless in their seats.

I hadn’t realized before that Bruno Mars has such a young fan base. Around me, many fans were shedding tears of emotion. At the same time, everyone was continuously dancing. Of course, we danced along.

However, we significantly missed the average age. Still, we were not entirely alone in our age group. Notably, many mothers were there with their daughters. I got the impression that in some couples, the guy had come mainly for her sake.

In a way, there was even a dress code. A bow to the artist initiated by Berlin fans was to wear red clothing or carry red roses. The Romantic Tour, after all.

However, this information came to us too late. I did at least put on some glitter.

In this fantastic atmosphere, it didn’t bother me that I actually knew every song but wasn’t sure about the lyrics at all. In hindsight, I should have listened to the setlist much more beforehand. Bruno Mars is such a brilliant musician and singer. That evening, he repeatedly played the drums and the guitar, danced, and sang at the highest level.

He does without an overloaded production. He plays on a classic main stage. There’s no catwalk, B-stage, or satellite stage in the audience. A car that drove onto the stage didn’t particularly stand out from our seats in the stands. Standing spots right in front of the stage would have been a better choice for that. The special effects in his show are relatively understated. Occasionally, there were some pyrotechnics and, of course, a light show. However, the light show only really came into its own at the very end, as the sun doesn’t set in Berlin until around 9:30 PM at the end of June, and the concert was already over by about 9:45 PM.

I suspect that the early end that evening was also due to football. Germany played its round of 16 match in the World Cup against Paraguay on June 29, 2026, at 10:30 PM. Some fans even preferred to wear the Germany jersey instead of their party outfit for that reason.

However, I found it a bit disappointing that even before the last song, several visitors left their seats to get out of the stadium as quickly as possible. After such a fantastic evening, I couldn’t understand that at all.

Speaking of party. Bruno Mars dominates this like hardly anyone else. The Tagesspiegel even reported that after the stadium concert, he gave an exclusive club concert for around 350 guests. At 2:27 AM, he stood on stage again and celebrated with his fans. Anyone who has that energy after an almost two-hour stadium concert is, for me, a real party beast.

My conclusion: Treat yourselves to Bruno Mars, no matter how old you are! It’s insane.
