Welcome to Middle-earth - Püppi and Schnuck in the Shire

We were particularly looking forward to our visit to Hobbiton! Even ten years ago, during our first visit, we had a lot of fun. A little has changed since then. Back then, we simply drove there and bought tickets, but nowadays, it is definitely advisable to do this in advance! The tours now start every 10 minutes... But it seems there is enough Shire for everyone.

The tour lasts a total of 2.5 hours and it is a pleasant walk through the film set. New is the fact that there are two Hobbit houses that you can also visit the interiors of, which we didn't know about before! Brilliantly done, you just wait for Frodo and Bilbo to come around the corner. However, the puppet has grown a bit too tall for the “Hobbit Hole,” and so the head frequently collides with the ceiling! Ouch!

At the Green Dragon Pub, we try a mug of Hobbit beer and sing, with the mill in the background, a birthday song for Bönchen. One shouldn't completely lose sight of home after all.

With thoughts of Gandalf, Frodo, and Legolas, we continue our journey. And the way to our spot today has something quite special in store for us: traffic jam! We didn't really anticipate that here. But well, you do travel to be surprised.

At our campsite, there are 3 thermal pools that are between 35 and 39 degrees hot. We soak our old bones and relax. How peaceful, how cozy!
