After the Titanic had already embarked passengers in Cherbourg, it had to return to Southampton due to a technical defect. Similarly, today we are returning to our 'home port' because otherwise we risk the kitchen window either falling out or someone being able to enter from outside. Neither of these is exactly what one wishes for. However, we are cautiously optimistic that we will not collide with an iceberg during the rest of the journey. But there are more than enough obstacles here... we hope that luck remains on our side!
So off to the tropics in Auckland. Since it’s Sunday, technical support advised us to arrive early, as they are only open until 1 PM. So we did just that. Upon arriving early, we are informed that the technician starts later today and will not be there before 12 PM. It's always nice when the right hand knows what the left is doing….
Then we’ll just restock our supplies. After shopping, the technician arrives and the repair doesn’t take long. We also take the opportunity to exchange our damaged chair.
Next, we continue to our camping site near the Shire.
As a treat, we have booked a slot in a thermal pool for tonight. The water is warm and pleasant, the atmosphere resembles that of a rundown house… which is actually a pity. But the entire place is somewhat neglected. Given that our parking spot is nice, the evening turns out to be quite cozy.
