Hiking in Denmark: Mors, Thy National Park and Cold Hawaii

In the morning, we left the marina in Glyngøre, where we had spent the night in our motorhome, and headed to the island of Mors.

There, we enjoyed a varied hike.

First, we walked along the coast of the Limfjord, where Mors is located.

The path continued through heathland and forests.

Contrary to initial predictions, the weather remained dry, and we even saw a bit of sunshine now and then.

We continued to our destination for the next two days: Thy National Park.

It was only opened in 2008 as Denmark’s first national park.

The area of 244 km² directly borders the North Sea.

Our hike frequently brought us to the coast, where a cold wind blew in from the sea.

There were ups and downs through high sand dunes.

In addition, the heath made the landscape particularly beautiful.

The coastal area in the region is also known (and marketed) as 'Cold Hawaii' because the sea is suitable for surfing with its high waves.

We made a stop in Klitmøller, where many water sports enthusiasts were on the beach - even if the temperatures were more 'cold' than 'Hawaii'.

After strolling along the beach promenade and being blown around a bit more, we continued to the Vorupør campsite, where we had booked a spot for the next two nights.
