Bunker on the Coast of Denmark

After a rainy night in the camper van in Vorupør, we set off in the morning to the National Park Center of Thy National Park.

The small exhibition provided information about the area of the national park and the many changes to the coast over time.

After thoroughly learning about it and the flora and fauna of the area, we set off for a hike.

However, the rain stubbornly continued—contrary to the prediction of the rain radar—and it was so uncomfortable that we abandoned our plans after exploring the beach. We returned to the camper van and drove north to the Hanstholm Bunker Museum.

Here stands the largest fortification complex in Northern Europe from World War II.

In addition to the exhibition on the history of the area with many exhibits, visitors can also tour the rooms of the former bunker.

Some of these have been restored to their original condition so that visitors can get a sense of life during the German occupation.

You can also take a small tour on the ammo train around the outdoor area, which used to supply the combat stations with heavy ammunition.

However, the train was just broken when we arrived at the station, so we had to forgo the train ride.

Instead, we were allowed to walk the round along the tracks and passed through two old bunkers.

On the way back, we stopped at a parking lot with a sea view, where we had coffee while watching two surfers making their attempts.

The weather was still very uncomfortable. However, it cleared up in the evening.

So we set off once again from the campsite through the dunes.

We returned through the small village.
