For breakfast, we had a huge honeydew melon, which had to last until noon...
Then we set off for Ushuaia, the southernmost city in Argentina, 217 km along the well-paved Route 3, often right by the Atlantic. The landscape in the province of Tierra Del Fuego became greener and more mountainous, and we could see more forests, especially the typical Lenga trees.
In the small town of Tolhuin, we visited the probably most famous bakery in Tierra del Fuego, the 'La Union' bakery and pastry shop. A large selection of pastries and bread is offered here (unfortunately, South Americans can't really make proper gray or dark bread). We passed the beautiful Lake Fagnano, which forms the border between Argentina and Chile over a length of 98 km.
At 'Paso Garibaldi', we enjoyed a few glimpses of Lake Escondido with the mountain range 'Montes Martial'.
Upon arriving in Ushuaia, we checked into our accommodation 'Blue House' about 5 km from the center. A taxi (our Peugeot needed a break) then took us about 6 km for 4.50 € to the restaurant 'Moustacchio'. Grilled trout with salt potatoes, an Argentine white wine, and for dessert, pancakes with apples and icing, 23.50 euros for 2 people, very good! From tomorrow we will explore the area..... Buenas Noches!
